The Institute of Experimental Morphology, Pathology and Anthropology with Museum (IEMPAM-BAS) is founded on July 1st 2010 as a successor of the Institute of Experimental Morphology and Anthropology with Museum and the Institute of Experimental Pathology and Parasitology. IEMPAM-BAS conducts fundamental and applied research in the field of human and veterinary medicine, focused on morphology, cell biology, pathology and anthropology encompassing important health and demographic issues. The laboratories are equipped with the necessary equipment for accomplishment of research projects in the field of experimental morphology, pathology and anthropology.
IEMPAM-BAS conducts joint research in different scientific fields within the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. At the national level, the institute carries out joint projects with different scientific institutions and universities. International collaboration is conducted with leading universities and research centers in United Kingdom, Germany, France, Austria, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, the Czech Republic and Romania.

The Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IICT-BAS) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is founded on July 1st 2010. IICT conducts basic and applied research in computer science, information and communication technologies (ICT) and develops innovative interdisciplinary applications of these technologies. The scientific topics of the IICT-BAS are in line with the "National Strategy of Scientific Research 2020" and correspond with the principles of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation "Horizon 2020". Ongoing research at the institute is focused in such advanced fields of ICT as advanced computing, "big data", intelligent interfaces, intelligent control and optimization, and analysis of large datasets. IICT-BAS has a powerful infrastructure for ICT research and its elements are included in the National Roadmap for Scientific Infrastructure. IICT-BAS is a research partner in various international projects, and for the period 2011-2015 it is involved in the realization of 19 projects from FP7 and 5 projects from "Horizon 2020". The Institute participates in a number of projects at national level supported by government agencies and the Bulgarian National Science Fund.
