The project aims to develop innovative and interdisciplinary approaches for investigation of the anatomic variations of the skull based on three-dimensional models.

The project objectives are:

  1. to generate volume and polygonal models by using different digitization technologies;
  2. to implement comparative qualitative and quantitative analyses;
  3. to develop an ontology of the anatomic variations reflecting the taxonomies, hierarchies and relations between them;
  4. to create a Virtual Anatomy Collection representing a database of Linked Open Data - LOD-VA (Linked Open Data for Virtual Anatomy);
  5. to apply methods for data mining to the collected data in search of general models and regularities in the etiology and localization of the anatomic variations.
