Announcement

The 13th International Conference on Large-Scale Scientific Computations

is organized by the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and MIV Consult Ltd. in cooperation with Bulgarian Section of SIAM (BG SIAM), the Center of Excellence in Informatics and Information and Communication Technologies (CoE in Informatics and ICT), and Sozopol municipality.

The partnership with AMET Ltd. is highly appreciated. In the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic AMET provided two LO20 lamps, which destroy viruses through direct UV radiation and exchange of purified air.

Time

The conference is scheduled for June 7 - 11, 2021, with arrival: June 6 and departure: noon June 11.

Place

The conference will be held at the Bulgarian Red Cross Educational Center in Sozopol (map of Sozopol), a picturesque town on the Black Sea coast, 36 km to the south from Bourgas (the nearest international airport).

Taking into account the ongoing travel restrictions due to coronavirus, the conference will be organized as a hybrid event: a) presence at the conference venue in Sozopol; and b) online through the free (for the participants) software platform Zoom.

Abstracts

The abstracts and papers are to be sent to: scicom21@parallel.bas.bg. Please indicate the special session (if this is the case) and send a copy to the session organizer.

The abstracts (up to 1 page stating clearly the originality of the results) are to be written in standard LaTeX using the provided template. It is assumed that one participant will present not more than one talk.

Papers

The length of the papers is limited up to 8 pages. It is highly recommended to prepare the source files for the papers in LaTeX2e using the Springer class file llncs.cls (samplepaper.tex is a sample input file which you may take as a source for your own input and you can prepare the references as Springer requests). Both llncs.cls and samplepaper.tex are available in the zip with LaTeX2e Proceedings Templates.

You can find more information and download the needed files from: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.

Best Conference Paper Awards

Description: The awards are given to the authors of best papers presented at the International Conference on Large Scale Scientific Computations LSSC’21. They are selected in recognition of the research papers’ quality, and significance of the reported results. The targeted scope includes but is not limited to such topics as: (i) abstractions, methodology, theoretical studies, convergence, robustness and error analysis; (ii) high performance computing, scalability and energy efficiency, communications reducing algorithms, implementations on modern supercomputer architectures and advanced applications.

Prize: Two awards of EUR 1 500 each, to be shared by all (co-)authors and certificates for all individual authors, attending the conference.

Funding: Funded by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Bulgaria, operated by Selectium.

Eligibility: There are no restrictions as to organization, nationality, race, creed, sex, or age, except for the acceptance of a paper and its presentation at LSSC’21.

Basis for Judging: The finalists are selected from all the accepted papers based on the reviewer’s reports. The Conference Awards Committee decides upon the winners.

Presentation: The awards will be presented during a plenary session of the conference. No awards will be given if no qualified candidates are identified.

Future: The partnership with HPE is seen as a long-term project with great potential for future development.
