"Large-Scale Scientific Computations"

The Central Laboratory on Parallel Processing, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Division of Numerical Analysis and Statistics, University of Rousse, will organize the Fourth International Conference on "Large-Scale Scientific Computations". Two special tracks are planned:

• Computational Linear Algebra
• Large-Scale Scientific Computations of Engineering and Environmental Problems

The conference is devoted to the 60th anniversary of Raytcho Lazarov.

The conference is scheduled for June 4-8, 2003, with arrival: June 3 and departure: noon June 8.

The conference will be held at the Bulgarian Red Cross Educational Center in Sozopol, a picturesque town on the Black Sea coast, 36 km to the south from Burgas (the nearest international airport).

Specific topics of interest (but not limited to) are the following:

• Hierarchical, adaptive, domain decomposition and local refinement methods;
• Robust preconditioning algorithms;
• Monte-Carlo methods and algorithms;
• Numerical linear algebra;
• Large-scale computations of environmental problems;
• High-performance algorithms for engineering problems;
• Large-scale computations of data processing;
• Parallel algorithms and performance analysis.

Proceedings of only refereed and presented papers will be printed in a book form. The conference proceedings will be published as a special volume of Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS).

Contributed papers

The abstracts (up to 1 page stating clearly the originality of the results) should be written in standard LaTeX. The length of the contributed papers is limited up to 8 pages.

The source file of the paper is highly recommended to be prepared in Latex2e with the Springer class file llncs.cls (llncs.dem is a sample input file which you may take as a source for your own input and you can prepare the references as Springer requests).

Conference fee

The conference fee will cover a booklet of abstracts, an excursion, a conference dinner, a reception, transportation from and to the Burgas Airport, as well as expenses for publishing of the submitted papers. The proceedings volume will be available at additional cost (to be specified later, subject to negotiations with the publisher).

Accommodation

The participants is offered a full board and accommodation in the conference place under the following conditions:

in Single room:	180 EURO
in Double room:	140 EURO

These accommodation fees cover: full board for the whole duration of the conference (arrival date June 3 beginning with a dinner and departure date June 8 ending up with a lunch).

Payments

The late Conference Registration Fee and the Accommodation Fee are payable at the Registration Desk in EURO (cash). So far, we are not able to accept credit cards or checks. Moreover, please note that all Bulgarian banks and change offices, accept only clean, undamaged (and crispy) notes and we, at the registration desk, must do so as well.

Transportation

For the conference participants who will fly to Sofia, we will arrange a special bus from Sofia to Sozopol and return as follows:

Sofia-Sozopol: 16:30, June 3, Hotel "Kedar" (in the campus of BAS)
Sozopol-Sofia: June 8 (after the lunch from the conference place)

The bus travel from Sofia to Sozopol takes at about 6 hours.
The return price will be not more than 30 EURO, payable at the conference registration desk.

Another attractive way to organize your travel is to use a direct charter flight to Bourgas.

If you inform us in advance about the precise arrival time at Bourgas Airport or at Bourgas Railway/Buss Station, we will provide (free of additional charge) a special transportation to the conference place in Sozopol.

Social Program

The social program includes welcome party, conference dinner, excursion. All events of the social program are free of additional charge.

Additional events will be arranged for the group of accompanying persons.
